Traversing the World of Thai Dating Etiquette Part One
Most Thai girls are naturally beautiful and come from a culture that puts a high emphasis on proper dating etiquette. If you want to date a Thai girl you need to fully understand Thai dating etiquette and how different it is from dating a girl from Edinburgh.
Chaperoned First Date One thing that always throws off western Thai suitors is the fairly strict adherence to the custom of a first date chaperone. In Thailand, this usually means the mother, father or even a brother come with you on the date. You may think you can get out of this by having a Thai girl visit you with a UK tourist visa. However, her family is likely to ask her host family or another family friend to join you on the date. Don't worry: this tradition is strictly formal for most Thai families and is usually abandoned after the first date.
Be Discreet and Friendly So, you've planned your first date and you're ready to sweep your Thai beauty off her feet. Slow down Casanova! Coming at her hard and fast is the best way to guarantee dating failure.
Although results will obviously vary depending on the girl, Thai dating etiquette requires a girl play "hard to get" with a suitor. As a result, you're not likely to even get as far as holding hands on the first date.
This aspect of dating Thai dating etiquette is designed to test your sincerity. If you're too eager to get physical, you'll be thought of as arrogant and crass. However, if you're willing to keep things nice and friendly, you're more likely to get far. Stay tuned for part two of our advanced look at Thai dating etiquette. However, if you have any other questions about UK tourist visa or Thai dating, feel free to contact us and ask. We'd love to hear from you.
Thai Girls- The First Date
This brief guide on Thai girls & dating assumes you've already met your Thai beauty and you're about to embark on your very first date.First, you need to decide where you want it to be. Dinner, movie, drinks? The dating culture in Thailand is vastly different from the West, so wherever you go, make sure it's public, and never back at your place.
Why is that? Well for one, a good Thai girl will not want to lose face being in a dodgy bar or kissing her date in public. Yes, you read that right.
Good Thai girls will never kiss on the frst date, especially in public. They don't get sloppy drunk, they don't wear sexy clothes, and they won't be overly physical with you.
Therefore, before you meet your Thai girlfriend, change your attitudes about first dates. While a touch on her arm, a brush of her leg, even walking hand-in-hand is acceptable, expect the date to be your last with her if you go in for the kiss. In fact, most of the romance should be verbal only.
What are some great topics to talk about? How about Thai culture? She will be greatly impressed and flattered that you show interest in her homeland. To really drive it in, ask about her family, especially her parents. Remember, in the 'land of smiles' culture is incredibly important for Thai people, only second to their families. Showing a keen interest in her family, then talking positively about yours will make her feel safe and not be suspicious of any ill intentions.
To keep the conversation smooth, never vent your travel frustrations. If you want to make a good impression on your first date, talk highly about your experience and the Thai people. Never curse, never talk dirty, and be funny. While you may have to wait for time alone, it's well worth the prize. Thai girls are incredibly loyal, feminine, and considerate towards their boyfriends. Some may even pay for the date!
Once the night comes to an end, don't try to persuade her back to your place. Instead say goodnight, offer to pay her taxi fare back home, and if you're confident and think it's all right, give her a tender hug. Never forget, patience is key when dating a Thai girl. Applying for a UK Tourist visa
Before a Thailand national can enter the UK they have to meet certain border control regulations, one of which is that they need to have a valid UK tourist visa. There are specific requirements in order to obtain this visa, and the Thai visitor may need help with these.
To be eligible for a UK General tourist visa, the applicant needs to be 18 or over and be travelling to the UK for leisure, that is, not to work or study. They also need to be able to prove that they can support themselves for the duration of the trip and are able to pay for both the return journey.
If the applicant is under 18, they may still be able to visit the UK, but in this case they will need to apply for a UK Child tourist visa. For this, they need to meet the eligibility tests for the general visa mentioned above, but there are also two specific further requirements. They must have the consent of their parent or guardian for the trip to the UK, and will need to prove that "suitable arrangements" have been made for both travel to the UK and for somewhere to stay during their visit.
For either type of visa, they will need to hold a valid passport, with more than six months unexpired. In addition, one passport-sized colour photograph is required, together with documentation showing that they can support themselves during the trip, or proof that they will be financially supported during their stay in the UK. For under 18's they also need to provide contact details of at least one parent or guardian in Thailand.
