Hi,

I recently had my citizenship approved but have not attended a ceremony yet.  If I'm planning to leave the country before the ceremony for a holiday do I still need to renew my RRV?

Thanks,

Stefan

Technically yes you need a RRV, as, you are not legally a citizen until you take the Oath.  Its not arriving in Australia and DIBP that will be the problem, its the boarding airline, as VEVO will indicate to them you have no valid visa, and you do not have formal citizenship documents (yet).

Better to be safe than sorry.

DIBP will make exceptions to attending set ceremony dates, you can go into Immigration and do it, for legitimate and compelling reasons, making a holiday date is not one of them ;-)
