Previous Partner Visa Cancelled On Request. Applying For Working Holiday Visa For The First Time

Recommended Posts

I came to Australia in 2009 on study visa. Graduated in 2015. Applied for Partner visa in 2014 and withdrew my application in 2016 NOV when I broke up with him. I called the immigration immediately and let them know that I am no longer in relationship and would like my visa cancelled. Returned home well before my visa was cancelled and didn't overstay.

I am of Bangladesh origin. I know I am eligible for WHV.

My question is, what are the chances that I would be granted for WHV?

My plan is to apply for WHV in Aug 2017 and stay till FEB 2018 if granted. I have been accepted to a Canadian university for Summer 2018 Masters program. and I will lodge Canadian study permit right after I leave Australia. Also I need to get some important documents while I am in Australia on WHV.

I need advice, should I apply for WHV? Would I get refused? If refused would it have any negative impact on my Canadian study visa application?

I doubt that your previous Partner visa will have any bearing on your new WHV. In fact as you acted responsibly and openly, this will stand in your favour as to good character.

If you meet all the criteria for a WHV, I see no reason you would be refused.

The only way a WHV refusal could impact an application in CAnada would be if you were refused for a very serious reason (crimes, false information), AND the Canadians found out.

Hi I am actually in exactly the same situation. Was on a 820 partner visa. Withdrew because of the break up. Left to go back to Germany and now I’m waiting on my WHV. It’s been 23 days and I’m just overthinking and over worrying. But I just would like to go back home.

@svenjawhateverr,

You are still within the estimated 21-53 days processing period. At this time of year, you need to expect longer than average  processing times, as its a busy period for IMMI/HA, and the principal holiday season for Australians.

My advice, If within the next month you do not get a reply, then raise an enquiry to IMMI/HA.  But you can do this at any time.
