Requirements for WHV 462

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Are there any stipulations as to the type of work a 462 visa holder can perform and the locations in which they have to work ?

i.e., do they have to work in regional areas doing agricultural work or can they work in a city doing more scientific type work ? It is understood they cannot work for more than 6 months with the same employer.

Also, I believe this type of visa is multi entry ?

Thanks in advance.

The Work and Holiday Visa (subclass 462) does not require you to work in any particular area or occupation. It will be subject to Condition 8547 'Employer work limitation: The holder must not be employed by any one employer for more than 6 months without the prior permission in writing of the Secretary'.

The Work and Holiday Visa (subclass 462) permits the holder to travel to/from Australia as many times as they want during the validity of the visa.

Although you are not required to work in any particular area or occupation. If you want to apply for s second Working and Holiday Visa. If you have completed three months of specified subclass 462 work in eligible areas of northern and regional Australia, you can apply for a second Work and Holiday visa. This work must have been completed while on your first Work and Holiday visa and only work undertaken after 18 November 2016 can count towards your three months' specified subclass 462 work total.

Specified subclass 462 work is work that is undertaken in a 'specified' field or industry in a designated area in designated areas of Australia. The section on “Specified areas of northern and regional Australia” below lists the eligible postcodes by State or Territory and the eligible work for that postcode.

All specified subclass 462 work must be paid in accordance with the relevant Australian legislation and awards. Voluntary work will not be accepted for the purpose of applying for a second Work and Holiday visa.
