Australian Visa Application Centre Thailand

Recommended Posts

Nearly everyone submitting an Australia visa application in Thailand will at some stage need to attend the Australian Visa Application Centre (AVAC). Even if you have submitted your visa application online, you will still need to attend the AVAC to provide the required biometrics. The Australian Visa Application Centre has offices in both Bangkok and Chiang Mai.

Thailand is a part of the biometrics for Australian visa program. If you have applied in Thailand, regardless of your nationality, for one of the Australian visa subclasses that is part of the biometrics program, you will need to provide your biometrics to the Australian Visa Application Centre in either Bangkok or Chiang Mai.

Attending the Australian Visa Application Centre Thailand

You cannot visit the AVAC without first making an appointment. Appointments can be made online through the Australian Visa Application Centre Thailand website.

If you need to obtain a letter of introduction from the Australia Embassy Bangkok to obtain a Thai Police Clearance for an Australian visa, then this can be obtained from the AVAC without the need to make an appointment.

Consequences of failing to provide biometrics for your Australian visa

When you submit an Australian visa application in Thailand, you will be advised by the Department whether you are required to provide biometrics. This notification will also advise the date which they must be provided by. If you fail to provide biometrics by the due date, then your visa can be refused. Section 40 of the Migration Act together with regulation 2.04 of the Migration Regulations prevents the grant of a visa if an applicant for a visa, who is outside Australia, has been required the provide biometrics, and does not comply with that requirement within the required time. At Thai Visa Express we have been approached by people who have had their Australian tourist visas refused because they simply did not understand the requirement to provide the biometrics. We strongly advise all visa applicants to thoroughly read all correspondence they receive from the Department in relation to their visa application.
