187 RSMS Granted, but what conditions for secondary applicant?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Hope you are well?

I am really struggling to find some information regarding my visa. We have just had our RSMS Employer Sponsored 187 visa granted. I am the primary applicant, so understand I have to work with my current employer in regional Australia for a minimum of 2 years.

However, my DeFacto Partner came onto the visa with me and has had this approved also. It is a 'Secondary Applicant'.

Now, the visa conditions for this visa are not listed in VEVO and I spent over 2 hours on the phone with immigration today to understand. But nobody couldn't seemingly give me a definitive answer as to the following:

1) Does my partner also have to live and work in regional Australia for the same employer for 2 years.

2) Is my partner able to take on a different job in regional Australia?

3) Are the same conditions for the primary applicant also the same for the secondary, despite the secondary applicant not being sponsored by the employer?

I have been on website after website, spoke to immigration, spoken to an immigration lawyer. All of whom do not seem to know the answer.

Thanks in advance everyone, really appreciate any support.

Thanks for your reply. The grant letter doesn't detail any considerations either. It doesn't even for my visa as the primary applicant. Nobody seems to know. I have emailed them this evening to see if I get a definitive answer.

I'm possibly over worrying, but considering the process we went through just to get this, it's probably not worth risking uncertainty.

Thanks again!
