489 VISA

Recommended Posts

Hi  My name is Rajasekar

I am currently living and working in Regional area. I have completed my regional working condition of 1 year. But still not completed living condition of 2 years.

Question 1:

Can I now work at any nearest City by continue staying in regional area.?

2nd Question

Perth is defined as regional area  effective from 16 Nov 2019.

Is this change applicable for 489 VISA granted in 2017..Can I stay in perth after 16 Nov. ?

The conditions of all the rural visa's is that "While you are in Australia you must live, work and study only in an area we specify".  Living in a regional area but working in a major city is not allowed.  Remember Live, Work AND Study.

So Q.1.  No, you must live and work in the area IMMI specified.

Q.2  You are wrong about Perth.  Perth and surrounding areas are NOT regional.   I quote this from the IMMI website.  Best to check the postcode here: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/skilled-regional-provisional-489/regional-postcodes

Everywhere except Perth and surrounding areas 6041 to 6044, 6083 to 6084, 6121 to 6126, 6200 to 6799
